PT Cruiser Stops Next to PSP Cruiser; Driver Arrested on Drug Charges

PAINT TWP., Pa. (EYT) — State Police in Clarion filed drug charges against a 20-year-old Parker man on Monday.

Cameron Gage Weaver is facing the following charges:

  • Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
  • Marijuana-Small Amount Personal Use, Misdemeanor
  • Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor
  • Corruption of Minors, Misdemeanor 1

A criminal complaint filed by Tpr. Norris on December 11 at Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill’s office indicates the charges stem from an April 22 incident.

During a routine patrol in a marked police unit, Tpr. Norris and Tfc. Gezik encountered a PT Cruiser on Old Route 322 near the Clarion River.

“The driver of the PT Cruiser stopped next to our patrol vehicle,” said Tpr. Norris in the criminal complaint.

According to the criminal complaint, the passenger seated behind the driver’s seat was visibly under the influence.

The troopers exited their patrol unit and spoke with the driver and his passengers.

At this time, Tpr. Norris observed a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana in the center console in plain view. The plastic bag was seized and a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, the criminal complaint states.

The following items were found during the search:

– red marijuana grinder and cigar wraps on the floor of the driver’s seat;
– gray Michael Jordan backpack containing a glass jar with white unmarked pills inside;
– glass jar with a gallon-sized Ziplock bag with suspected marijuana “shake” inside;
– blue and yellow glass smoking pipe with suspected marijuana residue; and
– black digital scale.

The driver — identified as Cameron Weaver — claimed ownership of the bag and its contents as well as the bag of suspected marijuana from the center console, the grinder, and the cigar wraps.

Weaver also stated that he owned white pills found in a Tupperware container owned by a passenger, the criminal complaint states.

According to the criminal complaint, Weaver told police that he gave five of the unmarked pills to the 17-year-old male passenger who appeared under the influence.

The Pennsylvania State Police Crime Lab identified the white unmarked pills as Carisoprodol — a Schedule IV narcotic. The crime lab also confirmed that the substance found in the center console was marijuana.

Weaver is free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

He faces a preliminary hearing on December 19 at 11:15 a.m. before Judge Schill.
