Clarion’s Miller Named D9 Football MVP; Bauer, Wiser, Smith, Thurston also Honored

CLARION, Pa. (D9Sports) — After winning the District 9 Class 2A title this year, Clarion was honored with three major Eric Shick Agency D9Sports.com District 9 football awards headlined by Spencer Miller winning the Jim Kelly Award as the District’s Most Valuable Player.

In addition to Miller’s honor, Zak Bauer of Clarion was named the District 9 Defensive Player of the Year and Bobcats head coach Larry Wiser was named the Co-Coach of the Year sharing the honor with Brookville’s Scott Park. Also, Clarion’s District 9 title game 28-21 win over Kane was named the Game of the Year.

Additional local players joining the Clarion contingent as major award winners were Kane’s Anthony Smith, a student at East Forest High School, as the Offensive Lineman of the Year and Redbank Valley’s Clint Thurston as the Special Teams Player of the Year.

Also being honored were Brookville’s Bryan Dworek (Offensive Player of the Year), Brookville’s Jack Krug (Rookie of the Year and Individual Performance of the Year) and Bob Tonkin (Special Contributor).

The Eric Shick Agency D9Sports.com All-District 9 team was named as well.
