PennDOT Displays Plans for Resurfacing Project on River Road in Forest County

BARNETT TWP., Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation invites the public to view a display of plans to resurface State Route 2002 (River Road) in Forest County.

The project will resurface approximately two and one-half miles of River Road, in an area bounded by Route 36 and Route 899 in Barnett Township.

Plans for the project will be on display:

Date: December 19, 2017, to January 5, 2018
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Mondays; 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesdays
Location: Barnett Township Building, 2301 Belltown Road, Clarington, PA 15828

Work will include paving, building up a roadway cross slope, patching, and updated drainage, guide rails, and pavement markings.

Construction is expected to occur in 2018. A detour of approximately two weeks in duration is proposed, with the detour route using Route 899 and Route 36.

The purpose of the display is to introduce the project and detour route and to receive public input regarding any questions or concerns about the project. The display is set up to also receive any public input regarding historic or archaeological sites in the area, that could be affected by the project, as required by Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (cultural resources).

The display location is accessible to anyone with disabilities. Anyone with special needs or requiring assistance should contact Ron Johnson, PennDOT project manager, at 814-678-7145.
