AFSCME Spreads Holiday Kindness with Donation to Clarion County Foster Parent Association

CLARION CO., Pa. (EYT) – AFSCHME (American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees) displayed an act of holiday generosity by donating $1,000.00 to the Clarion County Foster Parent Association (FPA).

AFSCME District Council 85 local 2112 representing the PennDOT employees of the Shippenville maintenance facility, the DCNR, of Clarion, and the PA Game Commission Ground and Cover Unit, in Shippenville, usually help their own during the holiday season.

However, when the local heard about foster children in the Clarion County area who could use some help, not only for Christmas but also when these children are placed in approved foster homes in the county, a motion was made that instead of helping their members, the organization should help these foster children who are less fortunate.

Mrs. Kristen Radaker, of the Clarion County FPA, couldn’t agree more. The money donated to the FPA will help buy gifts, school supplies, car seats, and ultimately anything to help the well-being of the foster children.

Kristen told exploreClarion.com, “It’s gratifying to know that people do care, and that all of the members of the local are willing to step up and help.”

“If the FPA can help put a smile on a child’s face while in care, then its mission accomplished for everyone and a huge thanks to AFSCME and its members for the selfless act of giving this Holiday season.”
