Dorothy “Chook” Klepfer

dorothy klepferDorothy “Chook” Klepfer, 87, of Clarion, passed away on Christmas morning, Monday, December 25, 2017 at her home following an extended illness.

Chook was born on June 26, 1930 in Clarion; daughter of the late Thomas T. and Dorothy K. Schimp Reddinger.

Dorothy married Howard “Huck” Klepfer on June 15, 1949, and he preceded her in death.

Chook was a homemaker.

Dorothy was a lifetime member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was proud to be a member of the first graduating class of Immaculate Conception Catholic High School in 1948.

Chook was also a member of the Moose Lodge #101 of Clarion and was a founding member of the Clarion Limestone Booster Club.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, sewing, spending time with her grandchildren, and she also enjoyed volunteering at each Election as a Clarion Township Poll Worker.

Chook is survived by her two sons, James E. Klepfer and his wife Sue and Joseph R. Klepfer and his wife Jeri all of Clarion, five grandchildren, Ricaele VanBruggen and her husband Jon of Gaithersburg, MD, Melissa Scott and her husband John of Bellefonte, Nicholas Klepfer and his wife Katy of Port Allegheny, Abby Park and her husband Cliff of Brookville, and Tessa Carr and her husband Dave of Butler, great grandchildren, J.T., Austin, Emma, Payton, Jozie, Brooks (expecting soon), Eleanor, Charles, Grayden, and Jaxon, and her beloved Lilly.

Dorothy is also survived by her brother, John Reddinger and his wife Virginia of Rural Valley and a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Chook was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant daughters, Richaele and Anna Marie, two sisters, Dardanella Kagle and Marion Edwards, two brothers, Thomas and Richard, and an infant brother, Robert.

Dorothy’s family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarion with the Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor presiding.

Entombment will follow at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Mausoleum.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers and the V.N.A. Hospice for their kindness and caring.
