MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Butler man allegedly assaulted and threatened to kill employees at an area treatment facility on Wednesday morning.

According to court documents, 25-year-old Raymond Allen Johnson Jr., of Butler, was arraigned at 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, in District Judge Jeffrey Miller’s office on the following charges:

– Strangulation — Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Felony 1
– Aggravated Assault, Felony 2
– Terroristic Threats W/Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

According to a criminal complaint, around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Trooper Aaron Shapiro responded to the Clarion Psychiatric Center. When he arrived, he spoke with a social worker who told him that she was punched in the chest by Johnson around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 26. She said Johnson was upset about being released from the center. Johnson flipped a table, and when she went to talk to him, he punched her in the chest.

The complaint states that Trooper Shapiro then spoke with a mental health technician who said Johnson was upset about his pending release, and he put his hands around the technician’s neck.

Johnson was also observed by other staff members kicking the door of the psych center and threatening to kill everyone, the complaint continues.

He was lodged in the Clarion County Jail on December 27 after failing to post $5,000.00 cash bail; however, on Thursday, December 28, Johnson was released after his bail was posted by a professional bondsman.

He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, in front of Judge Miller, according to court documents.
