CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A list of the top 50 employers in Clarion County released by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor reveals few surprises.

As expected, government jobs dominate the top of the list.
Twelve of the top 50 employers in the county as of the second quarter of 2017 were government-related (includes a private company that does dining services at Clarion University) including four of the top eight.
The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (Clarion University) tops the list with the Pennsylvania State Government ranking fifth, the Riverview Intermediate Unit seventh and Clarion County eighth. Additionally, six of the county’s seven school districts also rank in the top 50 led by Keystone at 18th. A-C Valley is 21st; Redbank Valley comes in at 23rd; Clarion-Limestone is at 25th; Union is 26th; and North Clarion is 37th.
The Federal Government, meanwhile, ranks 24th on the list. Compass Two, LLC, which provides dining services to Clarion University, ranks 41st.
The top six private employers in the county are as follows:

– Training Toward Self Reliance, Inc. (No. 3);
– Walmart (No. 4);
– New Light, Inc. (No. 6); TCC Clarion Limited Partnership (Colony Factory) (No. 9); and
– Commodore Homes (No. 10).
