Leola K. Neely

Thumbnail-58Leola K. Neely, 86, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Rocky Grove, Franklin entered her heavenly reward on January 4, 2018.

Leola was born on April 20, 1931, to William and Anna Beers. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was married to James E. Neely Sr. on February 18, 1956, in Emporium, Pennsylvania by her brother Rev. Wilber Beers.

Leola worked at Franklin Public School in the cafeteria, Franklin Hospital, and Visiting Nurse Association, as a health aide.

She was a member of Franklin Wesleyan Methodist Church. Leola loved music. She played the violin and accordion, and she loved to read. Going to yard and garage sales and second-hand stores were her hobbies.

Surviving are her children, son, James E. Neely, Jr. and his wife, Theresa, of Barberton, Ohio; her daughter, Linda Covert and her husband, Daniel, of Franklin; son; John L. Neely and his wife, Debbie, of Cochranton; and daughter, Debbie Fish and her husband, Philip, of Wichita, Kansas.

She is also survived by her grandchildren; Joshua Covert and his wife, Amanda, of Meadville, Rebekah Shorts and her husband, Lee, of Cooperstown, Benjamin Covert of Franklin, Daniel Neely, and his wife, Surimona, of Barberton, Ohio, Alish Neely of Ohio, Stephanie Neely of Cochranton; as well as 8 great-grandchildren. She is additionally survived by sisters-in-law, Joan Beers of Holly, Michigan and Melda Beers of Cooperstown; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, James; her parents, her daughter-in-law Miriam Smith Neely; and her siblings, Wilber Beers, William Beers, Esther Kightlinger, Virginia Ritchey and John (Butch) Beers.

There will be a memorial service held on January 13, 2018, at 11:00 am at the Evangelistic Tabernacle in Cooperstown with Rev. Jonathan Bell of the Franklin Wesleyan Methodist Church officiating. She will be buried at the Franklin Cemetery.
