Commissioners Consider Minimum Assessed Value for Taxes, Salaries, and Hazard Mitigation

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Short meetings of the Clarion County Commissioners and the Salary Board on Wednesday morning included some business items, some promotions and raises, and a news release concerning the Hazard Mitigation Plan.

Commissioners again tabled a motion to establish a minimum assessed value to generate a tax bill.

“We took it off of the agenda because we haven’t heard back from all of the parties,” said Commissioner Ted Tharan.

Asked about whom they are still waiting to hear from, Tharan responded,  “I don’t know. We have a meeting this afternoon to figure it out.”

Commissioner also approved a contract on behalf of Early Intervention with Milestone Pediatric Therapy, LLC for early intervention service for physical therapy.  The term is January 1 through June 30 at a cost of $7,500.00.

The Salary Board approved Wednesday the promotion of Michelle Lander who will fill the vacant 911 Deputy Director position on an interim basis at an hourly rate of $18.53, effective January 9.

Human Resources Director Trish Douglas explained the interim appointment.

“It’s kind of like a 90-day probation period to see if she likes the position and if she is capable in the position,” said Douglas.  “But it’s not necessarily a 90-day time limit; it’s how long until the director decides.”

Alyssa Dolby will be filling the vacant Domestic Relations enforcement officer position, a full-time, non-exempt, 35 hour per week position with an annual salary of $29,400.00 effective January 16.

Catherine Shreckengost (Corrections) has completed training and is due a contractual pay raise, an hourly rate of $10.75 effective December 10, 2017.

Jason Huth (Corrections) also completed training and is due a contractual pay raise to an hourly rate of $10.75, effective December 9, 2017.

The next Commissioners, Salary Board, and Retirement Board meetings will be held on January 23 at 9:00 a.m.
