Grumley, a senior from Johnsonburg, finished with 23 points and nine rebounds on his historic afternoon, becoming the 30th player in school history to score 1,000 points. His first half breakaway slam dunk brought the fans to their feet in Tippin Gymnasium.

Clarion, which led by as many as seven in the first half, trailed by two at the break when Gannon’s Frank Webber took the inbound pass and went coast-to-coast at the buzzer to give the Golden Knights a slim, 35-33, advantage at the half.

Gannon then flexed its muscle early in the second half opening the half on a 14-4 run to stretch its lead to double digits and put the game out of reach.

Gannon improves 11-5 and 7-3 in the PSAC while Clarion moves to 3-14 and 0-11 in league play.

Freshman Maqi Watson played 37 minutes and netted 14 points along with three blocks and three rebounds for Clarion with fellow freshman Mason Mraz chipped in 12 points including 3 of 5 from three-point range.

Clarion shot 47 shot from the floor on the day but had a tough time slowing down the Golden Knights attack in the second half, as it shot over 55 percent.

Gannon also held a significant 47-25 edge in rebounds on the day.

Clarion will play its next two on the road, starting with a trip to Edinboro University Wednesday, Jan. 17. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
