FARMINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) — State Police in Marienville have filed charges against a 31-year-old man accused of burglarizing a Farmington Township home on Thanksgiving Day.

David Allen Kightlinger, of Kittanning and formerly of Rimersburg, is facing one count of first-degree felony burglary and one count of first-degree misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking.

A criminal complaint filed by Tpr. Freeman at Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill’s office on January 11 notes that the charges stem from a November 23, 2017 burglary at a residence along Laurel Lane, just off State Route 36.

According to the criminal complaint, Kightlinger allegedly entered the residence through an unlocked door. Once inside, he allegedly removed three televisions, a PlayStation 4 game console, a soundbar, several miscellaneous knives, and a stack of Playboy magazines.

Kightlinger then exited the home through the same unlocked door, according to the criminal complaint.

On November 24, 2017, Kightlinger contacted Kittanning Borough Police Officer Young by phone and said he was “in trouble and needed help,” the complaint states.

Officer Young met Kightlinger at the Kittanning Brough Police Department.

According to the criminal complaint, Kightlinger told Officer Young that a known man told him “it was okay to go inside that house and take whatever he wanted.”

Officer Young said Kightlinger told him that he entered the residence and removed the items because he knew the home was owned by the (known man).

Officer Young also told Tpr. Freeman that Kightlinger indicated he was in possession of the stolen items.

Kightlinger is scheduled to be arraigned on February 7 at 9:45 a.m. before Judge Schill.

A preliminary hearing is set for February 20 at 9:00 a.m.
