Joab Orr Appointed As Knox’s New Chief of Police

KNOX, Pa. (EYT) — Knox Mayor Rich Cochran swore in Officer Joab Orr as Knox’s newest police chief on Monday night.

Orr replaces Jason Bowen who left the position after 18 years with the Knox Police Department to begin the Michigan State Police Academy.

Knox Borough President Jack Bish and the borough council members followed Bowen’s recommendations.

“I completely support Officer Orr and think he would do a great job with the community,” said Bowen. “One area of policing I took a lot of pride in is community relations, and I think Joab has not only the experience to be a leader but qualities similar to mine which I think would be a good fit with the community.”

“I hope whoever does indeed fill my position continues to support the community programs I have taken a lot of pride in helping with. I also hope the new chief continues to help the police department grow with the community.”

It looks like Knox didn’t have to look far for a replacement.
