Police Release Details On Chain-Reaction Semi Crash That Shut Down Interstate 80 for Nearly 7 Hours
BEAVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State Police in Clarion have released details surrounding a three-vehicle crash that occurred early Tuesday morning on Interstate 80 westbound in Beaver Township, Clarion County.
Around 12:30 a.m. three tractor trailers – a 2018 Volvo, a 2016 Freightliner, and a 2008 Volvo – were traveling westbound on Interstate 80 when the vehicles approached a disabled tractor-trailer on the roadway.
The Freightliner, driven by Abdijibar M. Bakari, 36, of Columbus, OH, stopped in the left lane behind the disabled tractor-trailer, and the 2008 Volvo, driven by Endri Kada, 37, of Staten Island, NY, stopped in the right lane behind the disabled tractor-trailer, according to police.
Police said the 2018 Volvo, operated by Mukhammadsalom M. Masharipov, 39, of Cincinnati, OH, was unable to stop and rear-ended the Freightliner, causing the Freightliner to push into the right lane and hit the 2008 Volvo.
All operators were wearing seat belts and were not injured.
Interstate 80 westbound between Exit 53 (Knox) and Exit 60 (Shippenville) was closed for nearly seven hours following the accident.
Clarion Hospital EMS, Clarion Fire & Hose Company No. 1, PennDOT, Bauer Truck Repair, and Rustler Towing assisted on the scene.
