Dorothy D. Coulter

Thumbnail-59Dorothy D. Coulter, 101, of Franklin, passed, away on January 16, 2018, at 12:36 pm at the Caring Place.

Born on July 2, 1916, in South Greensburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Topper) Dreistadt.

Dorothy worked as a bank clerk at Mellon Bank for 28 years.

She was a very active member of the East Grove United Methodist Church. She loved to read and enjoyed walking 5-6 miles per day when able.

Throughout her life, she volunteered for numerous organizations such as the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and Youth for Christ. She also helped with the ambulance newsletter.

She was loved by all who knew her and never complained about anything. Her friends and family will miss her laugh, her smile and her big hugs.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Patricia Vaughan of Franklin; her grandchildren, Janet Masters and her husband, Mike, of Cedar Crest, New Mexico, Nancy Stricklen of Franklin, and Amy Rolison and her husband, Rick, of Pittsburgh; her great-grandchildren, Jordan Masters, Ashley Stricklen and Brittany Stricklen and the “light of her life”, her great-great-grandson, Asher Sterling. She is also survived by her good friends, Lola Stroup and Marion Smith, of Franklin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanor Nix and Elsie Henderson, and her brother, Floyd Dreistadt.

The Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with arrangements. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, at East Grove United Methodist Church with the Reverend Drew Bell, pastor of the church, and the Reverend Lea Guiney, pastor of Union City First United Methodist Church, co-officiating.

The family has asked that donations be made to the East Grove United Methodist Church, 1167 Belmar Road, Franklin, PA 16323.
