theft-mugsPAINT TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Two Allegheny County men are facing multiple felony charges following a manhunt prompted by the attempted theft of copper from a telephone line in Paint Township, Clarion County.

Clarion-based State Police filed the following charges against Terry Jay Fisher, 45, of Pittsburgh:

  • Criminal Mischief-Damage Property, Felony 3
  • Theft of Secondary Metal, Felony 3
  • Flight To Avoid Apprehension/Trial/Punishment, Felony 3
  • Criminal Attempt – Theft of Secondary Metal, Felony 3 (2 counts)
  • Conspiracy – Theft of Secondary Metal, Felony 3 (3 counts)
  • License Suspended/Revoked Pursuant to Section 3802/1547B1, Summary

Glenn Allen Jeffries, 41, also of Pittsburgh, is facing the following charges:

  • Criminal Mischief-Damage Property, Felony 3
  • Theft of Secondary Metal, Felony 3
  • Flight To Avoid Apprehension/Trial/Punishment, Felony 3
  • Criminal Attempt – Theft of Secondary Metal, Felony 3 (2 counts)
  • Conspiracy – Theft of Secondary Metal, Felony 3 (2 counts)
  • License Suspended/Revoked Pursuant to Section 3802/1547B1, Summary

A criminal complaint filed by Tpr. Manns indicates that the two men allegedly conspired to cut a Verizon telephone line with the intention of stealing copper from the line.

“The theft of secondary metal and criminal mischief occurred to an active telephone line that is the sole means of communication to some of the Verizon Customers in the area,” said Tpr. Manns in the criminal complaint. “This constitutes a substantial interruption of a public communication service.”

On January 28 around 9:15 p.m., state police were notified of a downed Verizon telephone line along Route 66 in the area of Selker Road and Steiner Road – near the former Dew Drop Inn.

It was determined that two white males were allegedly stealing wire from the line.

Police arrived on scene and a manhunt ensued.

Several troopers on the ground and a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter in the air scoured the area for the two men.

Fisher was found early Monday morning hiding in a remote wooded area.

A vehicle owned by Fisher’s parents was recovered near the former Dew Drop Inn. Fisher admitted to driving the vehicle on a suspended license. PennDOT records indicate that his license is suspended due to DUI-related violations(s).

Fisher was taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill at 5:30 a.m.

He was placed in the Clarion County Jail on 10% of $25,000.00 cash bail.

According to the criminal complaint, the second suspect – Glenn Jeffries – avoided apprehension for several hours.

Around 8:40 a.m., a state police representative told exploreClarion.com that Jeffries had been captured.

Court documents indicate that he was found hiding inside a partial structure that formerly housed the Dew Drop Inn.

He was arraigned before Judge Schill around noon and placed in the Clarion County Jail in lieu of $50,000.00 cash bail.

Fisher and Jeffries face preliminary hearings on February 6.

Both men remain lodged in the Clarion County Jail.
