YMCA Third and Fourth Grade Basketball Kicks Off

CLARION, Pa. — YMCA Third and Fourth Grade Basketball kicked off the 2018 season with games at North Clarion High School last weekend.

A total of 102 children are participating in the program from surrounding school districts including Clarion, Clarion-Limestone, Keystone, and North Clarion.

The third- and fourth-grade boys’ and girls’ teams had a fun first week learning the fundamentals of basketball through game situations.

“It was a lot of fun. We love that the kids can get out in a game and play. The Y uses local school district gyms to make the kids feel at home,” said one parent of a child in the program.

William Richter is the YMCA Youth Sports Coordinator who organizes the games and coordinates the schedules for volunteer coaches.

“I enjoy seeing the children smiling and having fun,” said Richter. “We are grateful to the parent volunteers who step up and help teach these boys and girls basketball fundamentals, sportsmanship, and values. The program ensures fun, fundamentals, and enjoyment of the game.”
