Suspected Getaway Driver Arrested in Connection with Knox Area Burglary

BEAVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A second man has been charged in connection with a burglary that occurred at a residence located along Wentling Corners Road, in Beaver Township, Clarion County.

According to court documents, Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 21-year-old Russell Allen Bishop, of Knox.

According to a criminal complaint, Trooper Berggren was assigned to investigate a report of a burglary that occurred sometime between August 12, 2017, and November 29, 2017, at a residence located along Wentling Corners Road.

On January 2, 2018, 20-year-old Brandt Michael Young (pictured below) was interviewed at the Clarion County Jail. Young allegedly admitted to conspiring and engaging in the burglary, criminal trespass, and theft by unlawful taking with Russell Bishop and a 15-year-old juvenile.

The complaint states that Young allegedly arrived at the victim’s residence, made entry through a rear bedroom window, and took a safe from that residence. He absconded from the scene with the safe and items within the safe that included three firearms and approximately $6,200.00.

Bishop allegedly drove Young and a known 15-year-old juvenile to the Wentling Corners residence for the purpose of committing the crime of burglary. He picked up Young and the known juvenile after the crime had been committed. He received $400.00 of U.S. currency that was taken from the victim’s residence for his participation in the crime, according to the complaint.

Bishop was arraigned at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, February 5, in Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill’s office on the following charges:

– Burglary — Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Felony 1
– Criminal Conspiracy Engaging — Burglary — Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Felony 1
– Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 3

Unable to post $25,000.00 bail, he was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

According to court records, Bishop was released on Tuesday, February 6.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, with Judge Schill presiding.

Young was arraigned on Friday, February 2, at 9:00 a.m. before District Judge Amy Long-Turk on the following charges stemming from the Wentling Corners burglary:

– Burglary – Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Felony 1
– Criminal Conspiracy Engaging – Burglary – Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Felony 1
– Criminal Trespass-Break Into Structure, Felony 2
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Felony 2 (four counts)
– Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 2 (four counts)
– Corruption of Minors, Misdemeanor 1

He remains lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

Preliminary hearings for Young are scheduled for Tuesday, February 13, a 10:00 a.m. in front of Judge Turk for the Wentling Corners burglary and a case of Receiving Stolen Property.

In the Receiving Stolen Property case, Young allegedly admitted that he took stolen items to a Cranberry Twp. residence with the intention of hiding them.

Young has been charged with a string of burglaries in the Clarion County area.

He waived his right to preliminary hearings in four burglary cases and one receiving stolen property case on January 16.

Those cases have been transferred to the Clarion County Court of Common Pleas.

A criminal conference is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on March 28 in the District Attorney’s office.

Young is now facing a total of 39 charges in seven theft-related cases.
