Bear’s recently opened a fourth location, Bear’s Mattress 1st, in northwest Pennsylvania at the Greenville Plaza. It joins furniture and mattress stores in Franklin, Cranberry, and Meadville.

In 1957, Don and Louise Bear opened their furniture store on Route 322, west of Franklin. Mike Moss took over the business in 1990.

For Moss, opening a new store in Greenville is returning to his family’s roots dating back more than 130 years.

The Moss family operated a furniture business in Greenville beginning in 1884.

Moss has fond memories of delivering merchandise to the Franklin and Oil City areas from the Moss family’s well-established furniture business in Greenville, which began in 1884.

“It’s like home to me,” Moss said. “We have a great customer base here, and it’s been fun. The Bear family had a 30-year relationship with customers in the area, and that’s what we’ve worked to continue since 1990.”

In 2004, Moss opened a mattress store in Cranberry, and they recently opened another mattress store in Meadville, also located on Route 322.

Customers can shop for furniture and mattresses in Bear’s Franklin location and mattresses at the Cranberry and Meadville malls.

Bear’s Furniture and Mattress has thousands of products, including famous brands such as La-Z-Boy, Ultra Comfort Lift Chairs, Simmons Beauty Rest, Serta, England, Heartland Amish Collections, and many more on their website.

Customers can see and feel those products at their beautifully designed showrooms.

Bear’s Franklin store is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

Mattress stores hours are 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.

All stores are closed on Sunday.
