Sara Elizabeth “Sally” Detar, 92, of Falls Creek, formerly or Pittsburgh and Lamartine, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 14, 2018, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.

Born June 9, 1925, in Lamartine, Clarion County, she was the daughter of the late Guy A. and Mabel F. Rhoads Detar.

Sally was a graduate of The Shady Side Hospital School of Nursing. She lived and worked in Pittsburgh, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Mount Lebanon Lutheran Church in Pittsburgh and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Sally loved to travel.

Survivors include her brother, Richard M. Detar and his wife, Louisa, of Falls Creek, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by a brother, Vaughn A. Detar and his wife, Mary Joan “Kitty” Detar.

At Sally’s request, there will be no calling hour.

Private funeral services will be held at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc. in Knox and officiated by Reverend Karen Parsh, pastor of the Salem Lutheran Church.

Interment will take place in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Salem Township, Clarion County.
