State Police Investigating Two-Vehicle Collision on Route 208

WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State Police say a two-vehicle accident occurred on Saturday afternoon on State Route 208, in Washington Township, Clarion County.

According to Marienville-based State Police, 19-year-old Austin J. Sosnowski, of North East, and 66-year-old Don C. Frederick, of Tionesta, were involved in the crash.

Police say the accident occurred around 4:12 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, as Sosnowski was negotiating a sharp right-hand curve in the road; the roadway was snow- and ice-covered. He subsequently lost control of his 1995 Toyota Tacoma, and it entered the oncoming lane of travel and collided nearly head-on with Frederick’s 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek.

According to police, “Sosnowski was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and transported to Clarion Hospital for a blood draw.”

Sosnowski and an unidentified passenger suffered suspected minor injuries; neither occupant was using a seat belt.

Frederick was using a seat belt and was not injured.

Both vehicles were disabled on the travel portion of Route 208.

Clarion EMS, Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department personnel, Snyder’s Auto Body, and PennDOT assisted PSP-Marienville at the scene.

This investigation is ongoing, according to state police.
