Clarion Men’s and Women’s Swimming Both Fourth at PSAC Championships

YORK, Pa. — The Clarion Men’s swimming team concluded action at the PSAC championships on Saturday, finishing in 4th place with a team score of 413.

Highlights on Saturday included Ben Spencer’s 1st place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke. His winning time of 2:00.50 was good enough to edge West Chester’s Thomas McCormick by .16 seconds.

Joseph Folz and Joshua Thruston finished 3rd and 4th, respectively for Clarion in the 100-yard freestyle.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Folz, Robert Hacku, Thruston and Spencer came in 2nd place, narrowly edged out by Bloomsburg by three-tenths of a second.

WOMEN FOURTH AS WELL

The Clarion women also took fourth place at the 2018 PSAC Championships after the four days of action concluded on Saturday.

Mary Clare Smith started off things with a third-place finish in the 1650 Free, recording a time of 17:15.65. Becca Yonek also competed in the event, taking 11th place, while Kelly Harvey took 14th.

Alexis Lopez placed fourth in the 100 Free in her final PSAC Championships, recording a time of 52.28, while Morgan Manglaviti placed 10th with a 52.98 and Kelsey Burke 22nd with a 54.11. Summer Dacheux led the way in the 200 Back, placing fourth with a time of 2:04.46, and Ava Arnold scored points with a third-place finish in the “C” heat. Smith added an eighth-place finish in the 200 Breast, and the 400 Free Relay team took third place to close out the proceedings.
