Name: Thomas E. Myers

Born: November 16, 1951

Died: February 6, 2018

Hometown: Parker, Pa.

Branch: U.S. Marine

Myers, 66, served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Vietnam War.

Tom graduated from A-C Valley High School in 1969 and immediately joined the Marines. He distinguished himself serving in the Vietnam War while earning the Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals, and proficiency in use of 106mm Recoilless rifle.

A very active and dedicated member of VFW Post 7073 of Parker, Tom was a Life Member of the VFW, past commander, and served many years as Quartermaster of the post, a position he held until his death.

Tom assisted conducting veteran funeral services for many years, where he was most often serving as Firing Officer of the rifle squad.

On return from Marine Corps, Tom was employed in the glass manufacturing industry at Parker, Butler, and Clarion. He finished his working career at Hickman Lumber Co. of Emlenton before becoming disabled in 2007.

Tom loved the Marine Corps, Pirate baseball, and Steeler football. His biggest joy, however, was watching his grandchildren grow and learn.

He was a charter member of the Parker Polar Bear Club which raises funds for local charities.

Myers was married to the former Nancy Mulroy McBrien, and they enjoyed 30 years as a couple. They enjoyed fishing, boating, motorcycling, and camping together. They enjoyed time in Florida the past several winters.
