Brookville Police to Increase Patrols on Allegheny Boulevard
“We’ve been hearing more from people who do business there and others about the speeding going on, so we’re going to increase our presence there,” Chief Vince Markle said.
When asked if there have been more accidents there recently, Chief Markle said, “It goes without saying.”
“We need to be a little more active there, try to slow traffic down there,” Markle said.
Allegheny Boulevard, or Route 36, is a heavily traveled, four-lane road with turning lanes that has several businesses located along it, including a number of restaurants, truck stops, and gas stations.
According to recent state Department of Transportation figures, averages 11,000 vehicles per day.
At Tuesday evening’s borough council meeting, Mayor Richard Beck said the department would be increasing its patrols on Allegheny Boulevard.
“We’re not going back to the days where we just sat up there, but we do need to increase our presence there because we are getting more complaints of speeding there,” Beck said.
