CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — The League of Women Voters of Clarion County is having an information program on proposed Pennsylvania legislation for funding Education on Thursday, March 29, in Clarion.

The program, which is open to the public, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, at the Main Street Center located at 520 Main Street, Clarion.

Last fall, voters passed a measure that enables Pennsylvania legislators to change the state’s current funding model for public education. Two competing bills that would change the way Pennsylvania schools are funded have been proposed in the PA legislature.

Members of the League of Women Voters of Indiana County’s Child Advocacy Committee on Education will explain the two pieces of legislation, the Fair Share Tax Plan (SB 555), and the Property Tax Independence Act (HB/SB 76), to help attendees understand the impact each would have on taxpayers and public schools in Clarion, Forest, Jefferson, and Venango Counties.
