Donald B. Shobert, 93, of Walnut Street, DuBois, PA, died on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Penn Highland DuBois Hospital.

Born on June 10, 1924, in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Benton L. and Helen N. (Rakestraw) Shobert.

He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II.

In September of 1949, he married Christine A. Rowles Robb Shobert. She survives.

He was a 1942 graduate of the DuBois Area High School and graduated in 1948 from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He received a master’s Equivalency in Mathematics and a masters in Educational Technology from Arizona State University in 1968.

Don retired as a school teacher and wrestling coach from the DuBois Area School District after 28 years of service. After his retirement, he not only worked as a manager of the WDBA Radio Station for 15 years he was one of the founders of the radio station.

He was a past member of the First Baptist Church, where he was very active in teaching Sunday School class. He was also a member of the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post #17 and was active in the National Ministries of People to People. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Don is survived by two sons: William A. Robb and his wife Susan of Raleigh, NC, and Larry A. Robb and his wife Nancy of DuBois, PA; a brother Robert L. Shobert of Delaware; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018, at noon at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Dick Whitaker officiating.

Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
