SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — According to Clarion-based State Police, an incident of theft by deception occurred recently in Shippenville.

State police responded to the incident around 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16.

Between March 6 and March 16, a 45-year-old Shippenville Borough woman contacted someone via Facebook who claimed to be country music singer George Strait. The scammer agreed to sell the victim a compact disc. She sent a money transfer of $48.00 to Nigeria and never received the CD.

The case remains under investigation.
