Clarion Man Jailed Following Incident at Local Bar

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion man is facing a series of charges stemming from an incident that occurred at a local bar last weekend.

According to court documents, the Clarion Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 38-year-old Timothy Michael Amoroso II, of Clarion.

Police Chief William Peck and Officer Wright were on special detail in Clarion Borough when they were waved down by a known staff member at a local business around 9:39 p.m. on Saturday, March 17.

The staff member advised them that Timothy Amoroso was inside the bar attempting to cause problems with other patrons. The staff member advised the officers that he ordered Amoroso to leave the establishment, but Amoroso refused, according to a criminal complaint.

The officers then made contact with Amoroso who was standing on the front sidewalk in front of the bar.

Officer Wright asked Amoroso why he refused to leave, and Amoroso said the staff member was lying. Officer Wright told Amoroso that he believed the staff member had told him to leave and that he could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from him.

Amoroso was swaying as they spoke. Amoroso allegedly replied, “I have been drinking; so what.” Officer Wright advised Amoroso to go home and not come back to the establishment for the remainder of the night or he would be charged with trespass. He also told him he would be receiving a citation in the mail for public drunkenness, the complaint states.

Around 11:25 p.m., Chief Peck and Officer Wright were patrolling west on Main Street when the same staff member yelled for them to stop. Officer Wright exited the vehicle, and the staff member advised him that Amoroso was back at the establishment and would not leave.

Officer Wright again made contact with Amoroso and asked him why he defied the order to not return to the establishment. Amoroso allegedly stated that the Officer Wright was lying and never told him that.

Chief Peck exited the patrol car and advised Amoroso to go home. Amoroso then became aggressive and allegedly asked Chief Peck, “Do you want to get in my face, do you want to go?”

Chief Peck again advised Amoroso to go home, but Amoroso would not leave. He continued asking the officers, “Do you want to go?”

He was given several opportunities to go home but refused, according to the complaint.

Amoroso was then taken into custody.

While en route back to the Clarion Borough Police Department, Amoroso became aggressive telling officers to take his handcuffs off and “let’s go.” Once back at the Clarion Borough Police Department, Amoroso refused to exit the patrol vehicle for approximately five minutes.

Amoroso finally exited the patrol vehicle and was placed in a holding cell. Officer Wright removed the handcuffs from Amoroso, and Amoroso asked the officer if he wanted to “go.” Amoroso bumped his left shoulder into Officer Wright’s chest, and Officer Wright closed the cell door. Amoroso then began spitting in the holding cell and kicking the enclosure, according to the complaint.

Amoroso was arraigned at 1:25 a.m. on Sunday, March 18, on the following charges:
