CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A rugged wooden cross was carried gently through downtown Clarion as the Clarion Ministerial Association’s Annual Walk of the Cross took place on Good Friday afternoon.

Every year, on Good Friday, the cross is carried to five Clarion churches, with short services of prayer, scripture, and message held at each church.

The event is sponsored by the Clarion Ministerial Association, a group of local clergy who meet monthly to organize community-wide events. They have been holding the event every year for over forty years.

According to Ministerial Association member Rev. Kevin Haley of First United Methodist Church of Clarion, “It’s about reflecting and remembering what happened on Good Friday, and reflecting on what Christ did that day.”

This year’s walk began at 12:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, on Main Street. Rev. Kevin Haley opened with the Call to Worship and read the scripture, Luke 23:32-35.
