Details Released on Woman Injured in One-Car Crash in Clarion Township

CLARION TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police have released the details of a crash on Interstate 80 that sent a woman to Clarion Hospital early last week.

According to police, around 2:50 a.m. on Sunday, March 25, 38-year-old Amy L. Yekel, of Massillon, OH, was operating a 2014 Dodge Charger, traveling west on I-80. Yekel was driving in the right lane when she swerved to miss a deer and lost control. The vehicle exited the roadway off the north shoulder and struck the guide rail. It then re-entered the roadway, crossed both lanes, and struck the guide rail on the south shoulder. The vehicle came to a final rest on the south shoulder against the guide rail, partially in the left lane of travel.

Yekel was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries. She was transported to Clarion Hospital by Clarion Hospital EMS.

Clarion Fire & Hose Company No. 1 and Mark’s Auto assisted at the scene.
