Vehicle Slams into Tree in Green Township

GREEN TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Marienville-based State Police say a one-vehicle accident occurred on Friday in Green Township, Forest County.

Police say around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, April 6, a 2013 Ram 1500 was traveling west on Golinza Road toward its intersection with Nebraska Road. A deer entered the roadway from the south berm and traveled into the westbound travel lane.

The driver of the vehicle — 46-year-old Jason T. Eckman, of Pittsburgh — attempted to brake and lost control of the vehicle. It then proceeded west across Nebraska Road, exited the west berm, and struck a tree.

Eckman then reversed the vehicle from this position and struck road signs. It then re-entered the southbound travel lane of Nebraska Road. Eckman was unable to steer the vehicle from the roadway and came to a final rest facing east.

Eckman was using a seat belt and was not injured.

He was charged with a traffic violation.

Frank’s Auto and Son’s Towing assisted at the scene.
