Investigation Continues After New Bethlehem Man Fatally Shot in Armstrong County

ARMSTRONG COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) — Authorities in Armstrong County continue to investigate the fatal shooting of a New Bethlehem man.

The incident happened in North Buffalo Township around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, when David Lee Claypool, 49, of New Bethlehem, died after being shot outside his sister’s home along Sisterville Road.

Armstrong County Coroner Brian K. Myers said Claypool died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy was performed on Claypool; however, a cause of death has not been released.

Sources say a suspect has been identified. No charges have been filed as of late Monday afternoon.

The investigation is being conducted by the Armstrong County District Attorney Katie Charlton, Kittanning-based State Police, and the Armstrong County Coroner’s Office.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
