Nearly 80 Charges Filed Against Leeper Man Accused of Child Rape

LEEPER, Pa. (EYT) — A Leeper man is facing nearly 80 charges stemming from the alleged rape of a young girl.

Court documents indicate the Marienville-based State Police filed criminal charges against 55-year-old David Johnathan Thomas, of Leeper.

According to a criminal complaint, on November 12, 2017, PSP Marienville received a report from Clarion County Children & Youth Services (CYS) pertaining to the alleged sexual abuse of the victim.

During an interview with Trooper Watters and a CYS caseworker, the victim reported that Thomas was both verbally and physically abusive, the complaint indicates.

According to the complaint, the victim told authorities that Thomas held her down and raped her. The report states that Thomas “would hold his hand over her mouth with one hand while the other hand was holding her down by the upper arm.” The victim reported being raped 12 times between December of 2014 and December of 2016.

The victim said that Thomas threatened to kill her and her mother if she ever told anyone, according to the complaint.

Through further investigation, the victim disclosed that Thomas had inappropriate sexual contact with her beginning in 2006, the complaint states.

Thomas was arraigned at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018, on the following charges:

– Rape Forcible Compulsion, Felony 1 (12 counts)
– Sexual Assault, Felony 2 (12 counts)
– Aggravated Indecent Assault W/O Consent, Felony 2 (14 counts)
– Aggravated Indecent Assault — Complainant Less Than 13 Years Old, Felony 2 (two counts)
– Aggravated Indecent Assault — Complainant Less Than 16, Felony 2 (two counts)
– Incest (12 counts)
– Corruption Of Minors, Misdemeanor 1
– Indecent Assault Person Less 13 Years Age, Misdemeanor 1 (four counts)
– Indecent Assault-W/O Consent Of Other, Misdemeanor 2 (16 counts)
– Indecent Assault Person Less 16 Years Age, Misdemeanor 2 (four counts)

Unable to post $75,000.00 cash bail, he was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, with Judge Schill presiding.
