policelineHIGHLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) – One man was killed and three others were seriously injured when a pickup truck crashed into a tree early Saturday morning in Highland Township, Clarion County.

Clarion-based State Police Tpr. Berggren said the accident happened around 12:15 a.m. on Miola Road approximately 1/2 mile from Bigley Road.

According to police, a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 operated by a known male left the roadway and traveled over a culvert before colliding with a tree.

Three medical helicopters – two LifeFlight units and one STAT MedEvac chopper – were dispatched shortly after the crash.

One of the passengers – 29-year-old Mark Marcucci of West Middlesex – was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:32 a.m. by Clarion County Coroner Randall Stom.

Stom said the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

The driver and two other passengers were flown to Pittsburgh area hospitals for treatment. There is no word on their current conditions.

Their names have not been released.

Clarion Fire & Hose Company No. 1 and Clarion Hospital Ambulance were also called to the scene.

Shippenville-Elk Twp. Volunteer Fire Department was summoned to set up a landing zone at Clarion University Memorial Stadium.

Tpr. Berggren said the investigation is ongoing and additional information will be provided at a later date.
