Friday’s Baseball Roundup: Rhoades Lifts Clarion Past Cranberry

SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) — Behind three RBIs from Skylar Rhoades Clarion knocked off visiting Cranberry, 12-2, in five innings at the Clarion County Park.

Rhoades went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for the Bobcats, while Cam Craig and Sterling Conner each added a pair of hits.

Craig was 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored with Conner going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Spencer Miller chipped in a double, two walks, an RBI and two runs scored.

Craig to the win going five innings allowing two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three.

Shay Harry had a double and a run scored for Cranberry with Brandon Forrest also scoring. Trevor Gladin and Thomas Flinspach had RBIs.

REDBANK VALLEY 2, BROCKWAY 0

BROCKWAY, Pa. — Redbank Valley scored two runs in the top of the first and Bryan Layton made those runs stand up in a 2-0 win at Brockway.

All of the action in the first for Redbank Valley came with two outs, as Layton and Blaney Brooks had back-to-back singles before Kobe Bonanno followed with a single to right that coupled with an error allowed two runs to score.

That was all the offense Redbank Valley needed thanks to the pitching of Layton, who went six innings allowing three hits and two while striking out 12 to get the win. Grayson Harman got the save striking out one in the seventh.

Tyler Serafini was the hard-luck loser. He allowed two unearned run on three hits and no walks while striking out six. He needed just 76 pitches to go seven innings.

UNION 11, FOREST AREA 1, 6 INNINGS

RIMERSBURG, Pa. — Luke Salvo drove in five runs to lead Union to an 11-1, six-inning win over visiting Forest Area.

Salvo was 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored to lead the Golden Knights.

Luke Bowser added a home run while going 1-for-3 with two runs scored for Union with Isaac Yoder finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Reice Saylor 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored and Clayton Marsh 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Saylor got the win going five innings allowing an unearned run on one hit and no walks while striking out nine. Yoder threw an inning of scoreless, hitless, walkless relief.

Dominic Grubbs had the lone hit for Forest Area with Dillon DiCorpo scoring the Fires run.

Noah Burke took the loss allowing five runs, all earned, on six hits and a walk while striking out five in four innings of work. Bobby Dittman went 1 ⅔ innings allowing six runs, four earned, on five hit and a walk while striking out one.

BROOKVILLE 12, NORTH CLARION 2

BROOKVILLE, Pa. — As the visiting team on its home field, Brookville scored eight runs in the top of the seventh on its way to a 12-2 win over North Clarion.

Cole LaBenne had a three-run double in the seventh with Adam Mackins adding a two-run double in the frame.

LaBenne was 3-for-5 with the double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Mackins was 1-for-3 with the double and three RBIs with Seth Dunkle going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Aaron Park 2-for-3 with a pair of walks and a stolen base.

Park got the win going six innings allowing two earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six. Dunkle pitched a scoreless seventh striking out three.

Zander Hargenrader had two hits for North Clarion, and he was the losing pitcher, giving up three hits and four runs, two earned, while walking six and striking out four.

Three Wolves pitchers walked 10 batters and two errors led to eight unearned runs scored by the Raiders.
