lois-hunterLois J. Hunter, 83, of 200 Applewood Drive, Apt 2, Lewisburg, passed away Wednesday evening, April 11, 2018, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

A native of Oil City, she was born May 18, 1934, a daughter of the late Harold R. “Happy” and Agnes (McGuire) Johnson. She was married to David M. Hunter Jr., and her death breaks a marital union of 63 years.

Lois was a 1952 graduate of Cranberry High School and a 1955 graduate of the Oil City School of Nursing.
Lois was a registered nurse serving at the Lewisburg United Methodist Home (now RiverWoods) for 15 years, then worked with Evangelical Homecare and Hospice.

Lois was a life-long Methodist, a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, worshiped at RiverWoods, and Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church in Lewisburg. She taught Sunday school and sang in church and community choirs and choruses. She was a charter member of the Lawrenceville Lions Club, was active in Meals-on-Wheels, Girl Scouts and was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. For 40-plus years she was a part of the Harvard Nurses’ Health Study.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children and their spouses, Janet (Carrie) Hunter of Richland, Wash., Judith (Chris) Pfleegor of Bellefonte, David III (Fon) Hunter of Bangkok Thailand, and Douglas (Stacy) Hunter of Greensburg; 11 grandchildren, Kristen, Marc, Curtis, Bethany, Lucas, Nicholas, Maura, Hannah, Benjamin, Chase and Logan; six great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Ashlynd, Isaac, Nolan, Colton, and Melanie; one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Gary Mortimer; one sister-in-law, Sally Johnson; one stepsister, Betsy Hackett; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, George “Bud” Johnson; and stepfather, William Breaden.

Friends and relatives will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, followed by the funeral at Marlow Hall at RiverWoods, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Peter Geschwindner, Chaplain, officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
