Karns City Wins a Pair of Game Saturday

KARNS CITY, Pa. (D9Sports) — The Karns City softball team won a pair of games Saturday knocking off visiting Union, 16-1, in four innings and then taking care of visiting Redbank Valley, 7-5.

KARNS CITY 16, UNION 1, 4 INNINGS

Mackenzie Dunn and Alyssa Stitt both hit home runs in the win over Union.

Stitt was 3-for-4 with four runs scored and five RBIs while adding a double as well with Dunn going 3-for-3 with a walk, three runs scored and three RBIs.

Emma Clark and Taylor Ekis also doubled for Karns City with Erkis going 1-for-1 with a walk and a run scored and Clark 1-for-1 with an RBI. Emily Wolfe scored three times and drove in two runs, and Maci Moore scored twice.

Makenzie Shay got the win going four innings allowing one earned runs on two hits and a walk while striking out five.

Jada Zitzman drove in Morgan Cumberland for Union’s lone run.

KARNS CITY 7, REDBANK VALLEY 5

In the win over Redbank Valley, Karns City answered a two-spot in the top of the fifth by Redbank Valley with three runs in the bottom of the inning to top the Lady Bulldogs by two.

Katie Neff, Emily Huff and Sami Grazioli each doubled in the contest for the Lady Gremlins with Grazioli picking up the lone RBI for Karns City in a game that saw each team commit three errors.

Stitt was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, Kate Allen was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Logan Byers was 2-for-3 for Karns City.

Byers got the win going seven innings allowing five runs, two earned, on nine hits and a walk while striking out six.

Brooke Holben, Dakota Hetrick and Savannah Boyer all doubled for Redbank Valley with Hetrick and Kristen Shaffer each driving in a pair of runs.

Shaffer was 3-for-4 and also scored a run for the Lady Bulldogs with Hetrick going 2-for-4 with a run scored as well.

Hetrick took the loss allowing seven runs, four earned, on 11 hits while striking out five in six innings of work.
