Treasurer of Emlenton Medical Corporation Arrested for Theft of Nearly $23K

EMLENTON, Pa. (EYT) — The treasurer of the Emlenton Area Medical Corporation was arrested on theft charges today.

Franklin-based State Police say a warrant was obtained through Magisterial District Judge Patrick Lowrey’s office for the arrest of 37-year-old Charles Francis Planker, of Emlenton.

Planker was the treasurer of the Emlenton Area Medical Corporation from June 28, 2017, to April 23, 2018.

The Board of Directors requested an associate to perform an audit of the books due to concerns when Planker failed to adequately provide them with a treasurer report. Board members reviewed the bank account records at an Emlenton bank and observed that Planker had stolen approximately $22,600.00 from the corporation’s bank account, according to police.

Planker was taken into custody at his residence on April 26, 2018, at l0:50 a.m.

He was taken in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick Lowrey for arraignment on a third-degree felony charge of
Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property.

He was lodged in the Venango County Jail after failing to post $7,500.00 monetary bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on May 2, 2018, in front of Judge Lowrey.
