Blaney Brooks won first place in the individual competition, earning him a $1,000.00 scholarship.

Thirty-three students from eleven schools in Clarion and Jefferson Counties competed in the safe driving competition held earlier this month.

Students had to maneuver a car through a driving course, take a written exam, and a perceptual test.

Sheriff Rex Munsee and Sheriff Carl Gotwald helped the IUP Institute for Rural Health and Safety organize the event. Dave Jones, from Allstate, awarded scholarships for the top three individuals.

Keystone High School took first place overall in the competition, and Mason Burns, of Keystone, earned a $500.00 scholarship for his second place individual contribution.
