HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Office of State Inspector General (OSIG) filed welfare fraud charges against 183 individuals between January 1 and March 31, 2018, including seven area women.
The individuals owe restitution totaling $626,645.90.
The OSIG filed 67 criminal cases of fraudulently receiving public assistance that were graded as felonies of the third degree. The defendants are:
Jamie L. Miller, Sr. of Montgomery in Lycoming County, for $3,354 in SNAP fraud and $2,054 in cash assistance fraud.
Angela L. Perkins, of Brownsville in Fayette County, for $2,886 in SNAP fraud and $2,737.50 in cash assistance fraud.
Shaneka D. Alberty, of Sharon in Mercer County, for $4,548 in SNAP fraud and $2,736 in cash assistance fraud.
Ebony T. Morgan, of Scranton in Lackawanna County, for $2,921 in SNAP fraud and $2,659.49 in cash assistance fraud.
Lashawn T. Roberts, of Sharon in Mercer County, for $3,000 in cash assistance fraud.
Bethany K. Dorn, of New Brighton in Beaver County, for $3,701 in SNAP fraud and $1,179 in cash assistance fraud.
Derek C. Cunningham, of Springfield in Delaware County, for $3,066 in SNAP fraud.
Toni R. Coldsmith, of Chambersburg in Franklin County, for $3,256 in SNAP fraud and $637.89 in medical assistance fraud.

If convicted, the maximum penalty they face is seven years in prison and a fine of $15,000, plus a mandatory disqualification period from the benefits program they defrauded.
In addition, the OSIG filed 116 misdemeanor charges of public benefits fraud.
