KARNS CITY, Pa. (EYT) — State Police in Butler have opened an investigation into an apparent clown attack in the Karns City area.

Police said the incident happened Saturday around 7:45 p.m. near a wooded hillside in the area of Hooker Road and Kittanning Pike.

According to police, a juvenile male said he heard a woman scream and moments later a person wearing a clown mask emerged from the wooded area.

The person wearing the clown mask then reportedly hit the boy on his right kneecap with a metal baseball bat before fleeing back into the woods.

The boy was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The incident remains under investigation.
