‘Flat Stanley’ Travels from North Carolina to California

FOREST CO., Pa. (EYT) — Forest Area grade school students reported many adventures of “Flat Stanley” that happened last month.

Flat Stanley is a character in a children’s book written by Jeff Brown. Stanley’s adventures start when he is flattened by his bookcase. In the book, after being flattened, Stanley is mailed in a letter to California.

Using this same scenario, the students at Forest Area schools have been sending Stanley on “trips.”

Flat Stanley recently went south, and because of the weather, he took his sweet time coming back.

Brayden Dunkel sent his Stanley to Hubert, North Carolina, to see his cousin. While he was there, he went to the aquarium and saw lots of cool ocean animals. Since it was cold and snowy in Forest County, Pa., Flat Stanley decided to stay.

Quinton Mellon sent his Flat Stanley to visit his uncle who is an airplane pilot. Stanley liked the warmer climate and decided to travel to the southern states for as long as Uncle Kevin would keep him. While visiting Uncle Kevin, Stanley flew to California, Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana.
