SLIGO, Pa. (EYT) — Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is expanding its rehab efforts with the recent addition of Premier Therapy.

“It was a seamless transition without any hiccups at all, so we just kind of scooted in and went to work,” said Facility Rehab Director Renee Peace.

“We were fully staffed the first day we came in. Everyone here is fulltime, and as soon as a patient comes to Clarview, we try and see him or her within 24 hours, and that way there’s no delay of care. People come here for rehab, and that’s what our job is. We have people on the weekends, so we have one therapist if not more every Saturday and Sunday.”

Premier offers a physical therapist, two physical therapy assistant, an occupational therapist, two occupational therapy assistants, and one speech therapist.

During a day, Clarview residents can get two therapies at the same time, so the therapists can somewhat work together. An average of 25 to 30 people come to rehab in a day, going in and out. Therapy can be any of the three disciplines – physical, occupational, and speech — if needed.

The speech therapy covers an array of treatments and has a full caseload at Clarview. Therapists do many diet upgrades and tests and studies to get people to their highest level of function as far as their diets go.

“I like seeing people and how they come in and getting them ready to go home be as independent as possible and showing the success that we do have here,” Peace said.

“Our goal is to get everyone back home, enjoy their life and do everything that they liked to do before. That’s what I like in my job—I do the scheduling to make sure everything is happening, as it needs to. I like to set up home assessments with people usually within the first or second week, so we know the plan of care, and we can get any equipment they need, any assistance they may need to go home.  We are in communication with VNA when we do home assessments. There are no blank areas when we transition to home, and all information is shared with the appropriate agencies.”

One area Premier intends to focus on is the outpatient services offered.  While the rehab section has always provided outpatient service, Premier wants to extend its reach into the community.

“We’re going to start doing services and reaching out to the community as far as that goes,” said Peace.  “I don’t think a lot of people know that they can participate in outpatient services.  All they need is a doctor’s order. We accept anyone with insurance. We’re hoping to get a lot of community in here to focus on the outpatient and community health. We’re going to explain to them that we’re going to start doing some in-services at County Springs Personal Care, workmen’s comp, and reach out to a lot of people.”

The rehab staff is also working on newsletters, blogs, brochures, and an updated website with individual progress reports assessable only with an account name and password.

‘The progress reports show where patients come in at or their baseline and when they are discharged,” continued Peace.

Premier has eight employees at Clarview, and most of them are local, with Peace coming from Brookville.
