CLARION, Pa. – The Clarion track & field team will look to build on a strong outdoor season with their final scheduled weekend of action when they compete at the 2018 PSAC Track & Field Championships hosted at Slippery Rock.

The competition was scheduled to begin on Thursday evening with the 10,000-meter followed by two more days of action on Friday and Saturday.
While Kayce Bobnar opened the championships for Clarion in the 10,000-meter run Thursday but unfortunately wasn’t able to finish the race, which was won by Bloomsburg’s Hannah Boudreau in a time of 38:05.76.
Clarion’s other competitors are all set for action Friday and Saturday.
A trio of steeplechasers, all with qualifying times within just five seconds of one another, lead the distances for the Golden Eagles.
Morgan Manglaviti boasts the fastest time of the three with a qualifying time of 12:22.97, set just last week at the Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg. Haley Schaller and Danielle Stoner will join her in the grueling race, with Schaller making her first career PSAC’s appearance and Stoner her second.
The Golden Eagles also have one entry in the mid-distance, with Letizia Collini competing in the 800m. The sophomore set a PR in the 800 meters her last time out, winning the event at the Westminster Invitational with a time of 2:19.65.
Clarion will send five athletes in the throws events as well and stands as some of their best chances to rack up points at the championships. Kari Steuer and Katie Brest will both be competing in the Shot Put, with Steuer boasting a qualifying mark of 12.98 meters that ranked sixth in the conference over the course of the year. Brest’s mark in the Shot Put is 11.82 meters, and she’ll also compete in the Discus, with a qualifying mark of 36.03m set at the Don Frail Invitational. Ashley McCluskey also has a shot to score in the throws when she competes in the Javelin; her qualifying mark of 40.02 meters ranked 11th in the conference in just her first year.
Style Henry will pull double-duty by competing in both the field and on the track and will try to contribute points in both the Long Jump and the 100 meters. Entering the championships, Henry’s PR in the Long Jump was a 5.38 meters set at Gwynedd-Mercy, and her 100 meter PR of 12.43 seconds was set at the Paul Kaiser Classic. Amanda Batey will also compete in the 100 meters, while Nicole Young wraps the individual sprinter contingent with a spot in the 400 Hurdles.
