Clarion U.’s Nonnenberg, Kelley Named All-PSAC in Softball

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Clarion softball players dotted the all-conference team for the first time since 2014 as Taylor Nonnenberg (Outfield) and Rebecca Kelley (Utility/Pitcher) were named All-PSAC Central selections this week.

It marks the first time since 2011 that the Golden Eagles placed more than one athlete on the all-conference roster.

Kelley made an immediate impact in her first year on the team, contributing both in the pitcher’s circle and at the plate. She hit .293 on the season with an impressive .512 slugging percentage, ranking second on the team with five home runs while driving in 14 runs of her own. At one point Kelley hit four home runs in five games, including two in a doubleheader against Mansfield on April 21. She earned her first career pitching win on Feb. 24 against Saint Augustine’s on February 24, tossing five innings of one-run ball and got a win against the Mountaineers on April 21. She was named the PSAC Central Co-Athlete of the Week on April 23 after that big day against Mansfield.

Nonnenberg was perhaps Clarion’s most consistent hitter throughout the year, leading the Golden Eagles with a .356 batting average while hitting most at the top of the order. She also led the team with a .402 on-base percentage, making her the only Golden Eagles to top .400 in that category. Nonnenberg led the team in total hits (37) and stolen bases (12), making her a formidable threat at the plate and on the basepaths.

For her career, Nonnenberg has a .272 batting average, a .336 on-base percentage and 36 stolen bases. A veteran of 119 games played and 116 starts, she is already the program’s career leader in steals and ranks among its best in appearances, starts, and hits.
