MANSFIELD, Pa. (EYT) – Jennifer Bauer, a Slippery Rock University biology major and Tionesta native, received the 2018 Outstanding Student Award from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania University Biologists on Wednesday, April 25, at the CPUB’s annual meeting at Mansfield University.

Bauer, who is concluding her senior year at Slippery Rock, was one of the few university students chosen for the prestigious title, as one student from each of the 14 universities in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education is recognized as a CPUB Outstanding Student.

The Slippery Rock University biology faculty selected Bauer based on her exceptional academic performance and research, including her study of lichen species that was published last year in the peer-reviewed journal Evansia.

The CPUB is a professional development organization that provides support for the teaching and research activities of PASSHE faculty in the biological sciences and it also provides a forum for graduate and undergraduate students to present their research.

Bauer is a graduate of North Clarion County Junior/Senior High School.
