Multiple Fire Departments Respond to Major Brush Fire

CLINTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Officials say multiple fire departments responded to a large brush fire in Clinton Township, Venango County, on Wednesday evening.

According to Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Grant Rea, Clintonville VFD was dispatched to an estimated three to four-acre brush fire at 442 Dewoody Road in Clinton Township at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9.

Rea said upon arrival they discovered a wooded area engulfed in flames.

Emlenton Fire Department, Kennerdell Volunteer Fire Department, Rockland Volunteer Fire Department, Sandy Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Polk Fire Rescue, Pine Township Engine Company, Grove City Volunteer Fire Department, Jackson Center Volunteer Fire Department, East End Fire Department, Marion Township Volunteer Fire Company, Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company, and Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company assisted at the scene.

Sandy Lake Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company was held on standby in Barkeyville.

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources also responded to the scene.

A recon plane was flown over the site, giving a final estimate of eight to ten acres burned in the fire.

No injuries or loss of structures were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently undetermined. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is investigating.

The scene was cleared by all units at 8:30 p.m.
