Saturday’s High School Baseball and Softball Recaps: A-C Valley Baseball Tops Union

EMLENTON, Pa. (D9Sports) — Caleb Penny and Broc Weigle combined on a three-hitter and Lucas Larimore and Luke Whitcomb each drove in two runs to give A-C Valley to a 5-2 win over visiting Union.

Penny went 2 ⅓ innings allowing two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out two. Weigle came in and got the win going 4 ⅔ innings allowing a hit and a walk while striking out nine.

Whitcomb went 2-for-3 with a walk with Larimore going 1-for-4. Tony Thompson scored twice while going 1-for-3 with a walk, and Joe Dehart was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Luke Salvo had a hit and two RBIs for Union.

Isaac Yoder took the loss going four innings allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight.

SOFTBALL

CLARION-LIMESTONE SWEEPS KEYSTONE

KNOX, Pa. — Clarion-Limestone swept a doubleheader at Keystone winning Game One, 11-1 in five innings, and Game Two, 3-1.

In the first game, Abby Carl was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, Carly Hunter was 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, Cassidy Makray was 1-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored and Megan Stahlman scored twice.

Stahlman got the win going five innings allowing a run on six hits and three walks while striking out five.

Alyssa Dunlap was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI for Keystone.

Cora Black took the loss allowing 11 runs, five earned, on six hits and six walks while striking out two in five innings.

In the second game, Stahlman was 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI for the Lady Lions. Carl added a double, a run scored and an RBI.

Makray got the win going seven innings allowing an unearned run on one hit, six walks and two hit batters while striking out nine.

Black scored Keystone’s run.

Black took the loss in relief of Jacey Pritt. She gave up two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out one in two innings of relief. Pritt went four innings allowing a run on four hits, three walks and a hit batter while striking out one.

CLARION 13, A-C VALLEY 10

PERRY TWP., Pa. — Carly Best, Sadie Rudesyle, Brenna Campbell and MacKenzie DiTullio each had two RBIs as Clarion beat A-C Valley 13-10 at A-C Valley.

Best was 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and two RBIs, Rudesyle was 1-for-5 with a run scored, Campbell was 1-for-1 with a home run, three walks and two runs scored and DiTullio was 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

Also for the Lady Cats, Kait Constantino went 2-for-5 with a run scored and Maya Thornton was 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored.

Syd Schmidt and Emily Wetzel both hit home runs for A-C Valley.

Schmidt was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs, and Wetzel was 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and four runs scored.

Also for the Lady Falcons, Sydney Rankin was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Cami McNany was 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs.
Kait Constantino got the win going five innings giving up nine runs, five earned, on eight hits and a walk while striking out 11. Rudesyle pitched two innings allowing an unearned run on one hit while striking out one.

Schmidt took the loss giving up 13 runs, 11 earned, on 13 hits, seven walks and a hit batter while striking out five.

REDBANK VALLEY 6, CLARION 3

CLARION, Pa. — After playing in the morning at A-C Valley, Clarion couldn’t get two wins in the same day dropping a 6-3 decision to visiting Redbank Valley in the afternoon at Paul A. Weaver Park.

Sami Leasure had a pair of doubles for Redbank Valley going 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Elaina Miller added a 2-for-4 day with a run scored and two RBIs with Brooke Hoben going 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored and Dakota Hetrick doubling and driving in a run.

Hetrick got the win going seven innings allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits and two walks while striking out three.

Alexis Constantino was 3-for-4 with two runs scored for Clarion, and Campbell stayed hot going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Sydney Kiser chipped in a triple. ‘

Rudesyle took the loss going seven innings allowing six runs, five earned, on nine hits and a walk while striking out four.

A-C VALLEY 17, UNION 5, 5 INNINGS

PERRY TWP, Pa. — Playing its second game of the day, A-C Valley had no issues beating visiting Union, 17-5, in five innings.

McNany had a pair of doubles and three runs scored with Wetzel and Schmidt each scoring three runs.

Jada Zitzman had a double, an RBI and two runs scored for Union with Morgan Cumberland also doubling and scoring a run. Drew Yoder also scored twice.
