Fire Marshal Investigating DuBois Fire; Three Tenants, Two Firefighters Treated at Penn Highlands

DUBOIS, Pa. (EYT) — Authorities are investigating a fire that occurred Saturday morning that caused significant damage to a commercial building on West Long Avenue, in DuBois, and injured five individuals.

The PA State Fire Marshal, DuBois City Police, and DuBois City Fire Department investigated the origin and cause of a fire that occurred around 9:52 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, that significantly damaged a commercial building at 322 West Long Avenue, in the City of DuBois, Clearfield County.

The fire originated on the first floor, inside Mike’s Lock and Hardware occupied by Michael C. Rudzinski, of DuBois, the storefront tenant.

Flames spread to the second and third floor displacing multiple residents of various apartments.

Several residents escaped via the fire escape.

One man was rescued by the City Fire Department’s Ladder Truck from the roof of the building.

Three tenants and two firefighters were treated at Penn Highlands DuBois for minor injuries. All individuals were treated and released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Damage is estimated at over $500,000.00.
