Clarion Man Charged with Identity Theft Waives Hearing

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion man waived his preliminary hearing on identity theft and related charges stemming from an incident in which he falsely identified himself to police during a traffic stop.

According to court documents, the following charges against 46-year-old Thomas Richard Hannold, of Clarion, have been transferred to Clarion County Court of Common Pleas:

– Identity Theft, Misdemeanor 1
– False Identification To Law Enforcement Officer, Misdemeanor 3
– Driving License Suspended/Rev Purs to Sec 3802/1547B1, Summary
– Failure To Keep Right, Summary
– Disregard Traffic Lane (Single), Summary
– Careless Driving, Summary

Hannold is currently lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

A criminal conference is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on June 6 in the district attorney’s office.

Case details:

According to a criminal complaint, around 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, Trooper Allison was on patrol, traveling west on State Route 68 when he witnessed a vehicle, also traveling west on Route 68, driving off the north side of the roadway near Kifer Road.

The vehicle then drove onto the yellow line. Trooper Allison also noted that the vehicle’s operator was wearing a hooded garment that impaired his ability to see peripherally, the complaint states.

A traffic stop was initiated.

The driver identified himself with the information of a known male victim and said he did not have any identification.

The registration of the vehicle determined that Thomas Richard Hannold, of Clarion, was the owner.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that the driver was Thomas Hannold, and his license was DUI suspended. While taking Hannold into custody, his PA identification card was located in his pocket, according to the complaint.
