CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — Rose Logue, Clarion County Director of Central Accounting formally announced to Clarion County Commissioners on Tuesday that she is resigning/retiring effective August 10.

“Rose has done an outstanding job,” said Commissioner Ted Tharan.

Commissioner Ed Heasley said the commissioners would miss her.

The commissioners also approved the appointment of Sandy Ion to the position of Interim Director of Central Accounting, effective June 4, at a salary of $44,000.00. She is moving from the position of Fiscal Officer for Human Services.

In a related action, Kelly Emborsky was moved from the position of Interim Fiscal Officer for Human Services into the position of Fiscal Officer for Human Services, effective June 4 at a salary of $33,400.00.

“With Rose leaving August 10, it will give time for Sandy to work with her and learn its duties,” said Tharan. “We want to have Sandy completely trained, and we’ve been working on it. We have the fullest confidence in her, just like we did Rose. We still have Rose’s number just in case.”

Logue said it was nice working with the commissioners, but it was time to really retire and work on other things.

“The auditors are coming in June and July, and then we’ll start on the budget,” said Rose.

Logue had taken an active role in budget development, along with Heasley.

Ion brings some considerable experience, in and out of Clarion County to the new position.

“I was with the county in January of 2012 until June of 2013 and came back in October of 2016,” Ion said. “I’m originally from Michigan, and I served 20 years in the U.S. Army with finance, military pay, and accounting as my background.”

“After I retired from there, we had moved back here to my husband’s home, and I started working in Venango County as an accountant for the transportation department and human services, LIHEAP program and similar financials for Venango County.  I left there and came here in 2012.  Through no fault of my own and disagreements with the accounting director at the time, I was forced to leave the county.”

“I went to work with Joe Taylor Ford in 2013 in accounting and warrant work and then I came back to Clarion County in 2016 to work in the position I had before I left.”

“We kind of twisted her arm,” said Tharan.

Logue was hired on April 12, 2016, replacing Donna Reinsel.

She was a candidate for Clarion County Treasurer in 2015’s general election, has a bachelor’s degree in business economics and an MBA, with training in both corporate and public finance as well as accounting. She also retired from Clarion University from a position in academic affairs administration prior to the Clarion County post.
